After our explorations, we use country data to investigate why humans might be migrating to or from different locations.

Central Idea: Economic decisions involve both potential risks and benefits.

 

In this unit, we participate in a makerspace day to prepare for our upcoming rendezvous. We explore opportunity cost by choosing items that we need for our project that still fall within our budget.

Central Idea: The origin, structure, and function of governments impact citizens. 

 

In this unit, we compare & contrast the structure and function of other governments around the world. 

 

First, we watch a North Korea Video & reflect on the government of North Korea.

 

We also pick two countries from the list below and read about their governments. Which government do you prefer and why?

 

Central Idea: Humans' curiosity about the solar system leads to a variety of explanations.

 

In this unit, we learn skills and strategies for how to find information on a webpage.

Mrs. Amundson collaborates with classroom teachers to share lessons about how to use headings and toolbars on websites. 

Central Idea: Energy comes in many forms.

 

In this unit, we explore makerspace stations related to energy and circuits. We explore the fundamental behaviors of energy and make connections between our classroom experiments and the new tools.

  • LittleBits

 

Welcome to the library, fourth grade students!

Fourth grade students visit the library once per week to check out books. Specific schedules are available through classroom teachers.
 
Our librarian, Mrs. Amundson, also collaborates with the fourth grade team to provide unit resources, develop unit projects, and co-teach unit inquiry/research activities.
