Welcome to the library, kindergarten students!

End-of-Year Choice Projects
IB Unit: Where We Are in Place & Time
IB Unit: How The World Works
IB Unit: Who We Are
IB Unit: How We Organize Ourselves

Central Idea: School helps me grow.

In this unit, we research how school helps us grow.

We look for examples of cooperation, creativity and respect in picture books about school.

We put bookmarks in the pages where we see these attitudes and then share our findings with a drawing.

Here are the bookmarks and note sheet we used.

Central Idea: Citizens make responsible choices.

In this unit, we research different types of citizens and how they make responsible choices.

We look at books about different types of citizens and their jobs. As we look, we mark examples of responsibility with our bookmarks.

Then, we write the name of the citizen and draw a picture of how they make responsible choices.

Here are the bookmarks and note sheet we used.

Central Idea: We can reflect on the past, act in the present, and plan for the future.

In this unit, we explore inquiry centers and investigate how different household items have changed over time.

We reflect about the past (old objects) and then try to match them with their counterparts in the present. Then, we discuss how they have changed!

Our thoughts & ideas are captured below:

Central Idea: Our senses help us understand our world.

In this unit, we visit several makerspace stations and use our senses to describe and predict how things move.

Some of the items in our makerspace stations include:

  • Spheros

  • BeeBots

  • Ozobots

  • MarbleWorks

IB Unit: Sharing the Planet
IB Unit: How We Express Ourselves

Central Idea: All living things are dependent on the sun.

In this unit, we research ways people around the world are dependent on the sun.

Here are the sheets we used to organize our research.

Here are the links we use for pictures on our Sharing the Planet posters:

Central Idea: We can express ourselves.

In this unit, we read books about how people express what they are feeling.

Our favorite book to kick off this unit is Think Big (Liz Garton Scalon). This book helps us begin thinking of ideas for our kindergarten showcase project at the end of the year!
